What it is

Deja New is a second brain you simply talk to. Tell it what's on your mind, or paste a link you don't want to lose, and it takes care of organising it for you, no folders, no filing system to maintain. When you need something back, just ask.

My story

Hi there, I am Juliana Smith, creator of Deja New.

I am a mum, a data engineer, and an international community speaker. My memory isn't what it was before I had my son. Between coding languages, the sessions I deliver, and keeping track of his school calendar, there's a lot competing for the same small amount of headspace, and something usually loses.

That's really where Deja New came from. I read James Croft's series on building a second brain with Obsidian and AI, and I loved the idea instantly: a system that captures what you know and hands it back to you exactly when you need it. By article three I was drowning in vaults, folders, wikilinks and skill files. I wanted the outcome, not a new admin job.

The approach

So I built Deja New to be the second brain I actually wanted: one you just talk to. You describe a thought, drop in a link or a video, and it files everything for you. When you need it back, you simply ask.

The application came together in Lovable, with AI assisting throughout the process and helping turn the idea into a working product. That made it possible to experiment, test and refine the concept without starting from a traditional software development background.
